Video Blog: Where have I been the past 5 years?

I hope you enjoy the first in my new video blog series. Hopefully this will give you a bit of insight into what I have been up to these past 5 years, and how that is seen in the new record, Get In, I’m Driving.

Enjoy!

I’ve been a fan of yours ever since I heard the song “I Am,” which was about 10 years ago. I’m sooooo glad you are coming out with a new album! You are a huge inspiration to me. Keep on keepin’ on!!

I believe it was just under two years since my little girl went home to Heaven when I walked like a zombie into a little Christian music store in Mackinaw, MI. We were on vacation, and I just wasn’t ready to be happy again. The moment I walked through the door of the music store was a turning point for me, and I was surely led by the Lord to that place at that time. They were playing your music; more exactly, If You Want Me To. Feeling lost, betrayed, beaten. Not knowing what to make of my feelings, your lyrics wove their way into my soul. Yes. That’s what I had to do. Let Jesus work through me, and I had to be a faithful participant in the journey. Jaime had told us she was going to “the pretty light” the morning she had her surgery. She was only 3. Yet I took those words and turned them into believing that she was telling me to stop the surgery, which left me feeling responsible for her death. Your music helped me know that God is in control; nothing is left to chance. There is a reason for everything. As you’ve said, it’s not having bad things happen to you, it’s how you react to those bad things. I chose to trust, follow, learn, share, and teach from my experience. I know Jaime is in Heaven, because she told me she was going there. I will see her again. Praise God!

I saw you in concert at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI a few years after that. I was shocked to find out you are blind. Then it dawned on me; that’s why you have the God-given ability to touch the very soul of people who are hurting. You’ve walked through the shadows and the darkness, and emerged as a brightly shining light of Heaven. I am so grateful for you and your gift. God will continue to bless you and your musical ministry, of this I am sure. Please know how much you’ve changed the life of this grieving mommy from Michigan. Much love to you…from me and Jaime.

For the past 8 months I have been dealing with an ongoing medical issue and your song “If You Want Me To” expresses exactly how I feel about the whole situation. I play it often to remind myself that while things don’t make sense to me they do to God. He knows all about it and has it under control and that’s all that I need to know. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I am looking forward to your new CD.

Love your music, and love the fact that we have blindness in common, but don’t think it is a big part of us. I love music, and you make me remember it every time I hear you play that piano. I really need to get back to my roots of loving music, where they stay I really can’t remember. Thanks for being you.

  8. Ric says:

One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to was when Ginny toured with Sara Groves and Michelle Tumes. That was a great night, and how wonderful it would be to see another tour with those 3 women!

Ginny – liked your video blog update. I am excited for you. All the best to you in 2012 and your new ventures. You are a great mentor and encourager. You teach us that we can go anywhere with our songwriting…no fitting in the mold is necessary. Time for me to get in and let Him drive me there… not sure where I’m headed but it will be a journey, that’s for sure. Thank you for sharing! You are a blessing!
